Seeking information about a Matthew Tilghman, ca. 1750 in New York or Connecticut. He was the maternal great grandfather of William W. (Warren?) Wooster, born ca. 1816 in New York. Mr. Wooster married a Mary J. (Davis?) possibly in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, ca. 1836. William and Mary J. Wooster were living in Mobile County, Alabama in 1850. Mary J. was from South Carolina, most probably Charleston or Beaufort County. There are other Woosters listed in Beaufort County in 1850. I am also trying to link the Tilghman and Wooster names to the Knickerbockers of New York or Connecticut. Your help will be appreciated. I am writing a book about Louise Catherine Wooster and desperately need help.
