Description: Joseph Tiller and other inhabitants, petition asking that the said Tiller may be vested with the Ferry rights across Lynches Creek.
South Carolina Historical Magazine, Vol. 81. gives his dates as 1720-1801 and says that he was born in England and settled on the forks of Lynches River establishing a community there. He was buried at Tiller's Church (later called Bethany), but I don't think the grave is marked.
