I know it is some time since you posted on this subject, but I have been researching some of these lines, and beliive that Hannah BENNETT was Thomas TILLEY's second wife, whom he married in the September Quarter of 1863. His first wife was Sarah GEORGE, and they had married in the September Quarter of 1857.

Thomas was, as you know, born in Wotton under Edge about 1835; he had two sisters - Ann born about 1836 and Caroline born about 1839.

I haven't been able to determine the name of the father for this family, but he was clearly still alive in 1839, when Caroline was born, but was dead by the time of the 1841 Census. This means that it's likely to be Charles, David or Robert, but you'd need to do further research to determine which one. You could at least get the birth certificate for Caroline, wiuch would mention both her parents' names, including her mother's maiden name.

By the way, following the death of her first husband, Sarah LUTON married Thomas BOULTON in the September Quarter of 1846. She appears with him in the 1851 Census, with her two daughters - Ann and Caroline.

I hope that something her will be new to you, and may help to carry you back a further generation.

Kind regards

Philip Candy
