I don't believe that Klass Tilstra (~1775-~1835) had a brother named John. Was your Nicholas born in the Netherlands? There are a couple of on-line genealogy related databases that have birth, marriage, and death records of everyone in Holland. The best one is currently off-line, but they plan to be back on 1 March 2002: http://www-lias.rad.archief.nl/ The other one that I use frequently is limited to Frisian records, but this one has been putting old church records from before 1800 online: http://www.ryksargyf.org

Can you tell me where Simon was born? I might be able to find more info on his parents for you.

Erik.
