Descendants of John Timewell of Halse born 1760
John Timewell born either 4-6-1760 or 6-4-1760 in Wellington, Somersetshire, England
Had at least 1 son:
Thomas Timewell born about 1785-1790 in ____ and was buried on 13 Jan 1850 at St. James Parish, Halse, Somerset. He was a blacksmith.
Thomas married Anne before 1812 and they had:
1. Sarah Timewell (my relative) christened on 27 Mar 1812 in St. James Parish, Halse, Somerset. She married: 1st John Davis and had 10 children, 2nd John Timewell and had no children.
2.Mary Timewell christened 15 Aug 1813 at St. James Parish, Halse, Somerset
3.Elizabeth Timewell christened 15 Dec. 1816 at St. James Parish, Halse, Somerset
4.James Timewell christened 14 Mar 1819 at St. James Parish, Halse, Somerset
I do not know anything about #2, #3, or #4.
#1, Sarah Timewell, I know quite a lot about. Her second husband, a cousin named John Timewell was a very generous man. They were married in 1854 probably in Taunton, Somerset. This John Timewell was born 9 Mar 1800 in Wiveliscombe, Somerset and christened 25 Dec 1805 at St. Andrew's Parish, Wiveliscombe, Somerset.I am unsure whether he was married prior to marrying his cousin, Sarah Timewell.
I found a record that he was a retired master sailor. He owned Staplegrove Lodge in Taunton and lived there and also in St. James' Square in London. He died in March 1875 in Taunton, Somerset. He left an annuity to his wife after his death and also an income for his step-daughter, Laura (Davis) Hughes, who was the daughter of Sarah Timewell-Davis-Timewell and her first husband, John Davis.
I welcome any further information or corrections:[email protected]!
