Dear Lee,
I have heard of that book about Garrett Robert Tingen. Is it the book that was sold by Mrs. Franklin, a few years back? My aunt, Mary Tingen has a copy of that book and gave me some information from the book. The part I am missing, is where the Immigrant (Garrett Robert Tingen), came from. Her book says that he was born 1789 and possibly came from Scotland. I want to know for sure. My father was James Thomas Tingen of Broadway, NC. He passed away 16 years ago. I feel the need to complete his search and find out where we came from and what ship, maybe we came on. Did he come over alone at the age of 6? Did he come with his parents and did they die at sea? Mrs, Franklin e-mailed me a few weeks past and said her husbands search ended when he died but they were at a stand still. Some said Garrett, father died and is burried in Maryland. But she was not for sure. She also said that his parents may have died at sea and he may have lived with foster parents. I would like any help, any one could give me.
