Tingen - DAR Membership

I recently proved Ambrose Harrison Duncan's patriotic service for a DAR supplemental line. Ambrose was married to Martha Slaughter whose father also had patriotic service which is accepted by DAR if any fellow descendants are interested in joining DAR or SAR. I am descended from Ambrose's daughter Joanna who married John Ridley Tingen. Does anyone have proof of John Ridley Tingen's service in the War of 1812? I have tried to find documentation of his service for the Daughters of 1812 to no avail. Everyone believes that Garrett immigrated to NC, but a very good researcher of this line told me that she had noted that every one of Garrett's children stated on the 1870 census that their father was born in NC. I have not checked that personally. Also, I have a copy of Benjamin Tingen's death certificate & he states that his father was Garrett Tingen born in NC. I have a copy of the 1820 census that shows a Prosper Tingen but not Garrett. Does anyone have information on Prosper?
