My mother says that she did not come through Ellis Island either - but the family (Gurnik) is listed on a passenger manifest in 1922.
Looking under "Tintera" I found 14 entries from 1893 to 1922. Curiously most names (under Gurnik or Tintera)look to be feminine.
In 1893 Marie Tintera (age 21) and Ema Tintera (age 1) are listed. Mother and daughter?
But how to trace them on from there? I haven't a clue. Have you?
