Family History and "Non-Participants"
Here is a tuffy, and a situation that appears must be handled with kid gloves from my end. I am doing a family history on the descendants of my great great grandparents. Everything was going fine until I ran into one "cousin", who when approached, simply said ... "don't put me in no books or I'll sue you". This fella was divorced from his wife, but there are 7 children involved in this lineage, and I hate to leave THEM out for the personal sake of this self-indulgent soul. If I leave him out, the children will probably never know this bit of their heritage. What does one do? Does anybody know of a site where they might discuss the "legalities" involved with putting information about an unwilling person into a book? Isn't there something about matters of "public record" that protects those of us who care about heritage preservation? Someone help me out with this if you can. Thanks.Alan
