Hi Robert,
When someone gives me some really useful information on these forums, I trace their other messages to see what other 'tidbits' they may have posted. for example, I notice your familiarity with the ubiquitous Estabrooks. I have a slight interest in them through their connection to the Gilmores up the Nashwaaksis, just north of Devon.
Your message relative to armourial bearings is refreshing. So few seem to be aware that one coat-of-arms can only belong to one person. When I pointed out to one lady that she was appropriating the private property of a living person, she accused me of being unwilling to "share". It's dificult to point out that since coats-of-arms are meant to identify individuals, it's impossible to share.
In my preliminary work on the Flewellings, I wrote an editorial on this issue, with references to the College of Arms, the Canadian Heraldric Authority, and an American society for registering arms.
