1880 Transcriptions of Surnames
I have a problem...On the 1880 familysearch site I found my FRENCH family with the spelling of "Franck",also on same site found my SPEARS family spelled "SPEASA".
Without the help of genforum lookups, I would have never found them.
Now, I am searching for my TURNER family, with which I have a problem. I have only a Surname to search with,"TURNER".
I have nothing to search with, except my grandfather was born 1871-1874 in TX.His d/c says parents unknown. He died before S.S.He lists father b.AL,OK,USA, OK.(1900thru 1930)
He had a sister born July 1882,of course she would not be on the 1880 census. I found her on the 1900 TX census married 1898,Tx.I believe she may have died before 1910 census.
She listsFather b. Miss, Mother,b. unknown.I can find no further census for her.
I have tried all TURNER names for John T.Turner, b.1871-1874 in TX,age 7-8. Have followed up on census, no help there.
I am beganning to believe I am jinxed with miss spelling of my TURNER family also.
Could someone give me any idea how TURNER could be transcribed by any other spelling ?
Thank you, alice
