Sorry, I should have typed SUE, she says that Word 2002 has an indexing function. IF I understand it correctly, Deezak's friend wrote his family history using Word 2000 and that is the version in which he's interested. Thank you for your delightful reply, I'll now correct my statement:

"BETTY says she uses Word 2000 and BETTY says that it has an indexing feature."

And "yes", I did consult "Help" but obviously I missed something. Perhaps I just wasn't patient enough at the time so when I return home I'll check it again. My indexing "problem" came up a couple of years ago so maybe this time the indexing feature will just jump right out at me. Regards, Rick
