Do you understand what that parenthetical statement means exactly? Why can't the reader use it? Does "use" mean that the resulting index can't be edited? If it does a good indexing job but then the index is locked that wouldn't necessarily be a problem, as long as the index could be cut and pasted onto the end of the indexed document. However, given the complex nature of creating a good index of genealogical materials I'm guessing that an index that couldn't be edited at all would not likely be very satisfactory.

But I do wonder exactly what that person meant by "...the reader can't really use it." And which version of Word does this refer to?
