Currently, I keep everything organized by surname, and then divided into source--like Census, family interviews, obituaries, etc. I'm just about to make the switch from files to three-ring binders. I'm very excited about it. :)

As for the binder for your grandmother, I don't have any ideas, really. I'm sorry! It sounds like such a neat gift, though!
