LIly,
Hi according to a obit I received and family data. Edgar Allen Newton father and head of his family was prior to 1891, was living in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had a daughter born there in LaCrosse, Sept 9, 1887.The family moved from LaCrosse,WI. to Chadron,Dawes Company, Nebraska when Edgar took on a job for the railroad. He was a Brakeman.
I can not locate anything on their family when they lived there. On July 19, 1891, Edgar a Brakeman lost his balance when the train was slowing down. He was thrown under the train, his arm severed and he had a concussion.
Lily according to the obit., this happened in Gordon, Sheridan, Nebraska his body then taken back to Chadron. His wife Harriet M. Newton(Hattie) took his body and their three children to LaCrosse, Wisconsin for burial where her father lived. Her father was a Methodist minister.
Hattie was pg. and gave birth to their fourth child August 1891.By 1893 she had remarried had a daughter in Chadron, moved to IL. with her husband and by 1895 had another child a son.
I have hoped to find school, church, county, city, Trainmen records.
When Edgar died he was 33 the oldest Brakeman in the Trainmen organization. He had the week prior taken a test and past.He was going to be given his own train.
The train he fell from was carrying circus animals.
I do have two obits. from Nebraska but that is all.
I thank you Lily.He did go by various names Ed, Edgar, E. A. Newton,Edward.
