Meaning of Daughter-in-law
I know that old wills usually mean step-daughter when they say daughter-in-law.Is that always the case?Could it also be used as a reference to a now married daughter. The girls in question are Catherine SWITZER and Elizabeth WINSE, in the will of Abraham LEFEVER in 1733.I do not know if Abraham could have had a marriage with step-daughters from a wife's former marriage or not, her identity not proven. They definitely are not 'daughters-in-law' in the sense we use, as a sons wife.Gene in Gotha
