Jesse Ransom Hamby's wife ..Scott or Hawk ?????

I need help in trying to resolve a family uncertainty. Most of our Hamby line had thought the wife of Jesse Ransom Hamby( the son of Eli "Wash" Hamby and Rachel Arkansas Sartain )was Mary Scott. We understood them to be the parents of Horace Hamby who married Nila Parsons. Eli W. Hamby, the brother of Jesse was believed to have married Mary Lavonna Hawk.

Confussion has arisen now because the 1900 Grundy Co census shows Jesse Hamby..head
Mary Hamby...wife of head
their children...
George Hamby.. brother of head
Rena HAWK ...aunt of head ???
THose of us that are from the line of Jesse and Mary, Horace and Nila and Eva Hamby and Billy Winton have no information as to why there is Rena Hawk as HIS aunt.

Can anyone confirm that Jesse's wife was Mary SCOTT and also clarify the Rena Hawk connection.
