Civil War Militia Rosters

I am trying to locate military records of the Civil War period. My ancestor, Parks Britton, lived in Hamburg, Hardin Co, TN during the time the Civil War was being fought in Hardin Co, TN. I would like to know if my Parks Britton served in the militia/military during this period. I suspect he may have been in the militia as it appears he continued to sire children during this period. Parks was born around 1829. He would have been in his 30's during this period. If anyone has any suggestions as to where I might find these records, I'd certainly appreciate any help you might have to offer.

Thanks,
Jackey Britton Harris
