Joyce, I have found that spelling is not terribly important, especially the farther back you go in time. Do you have a lot of information on the Swinea/Swinney family in Hardin County? My ggg grandmother was Mary Swinea Flatt, born in VA in 1799. After husband William Flatt died, Mary married Moses Bailey. They are buried at Old Union Cemetery (just down the road from Swinney's Chapel Cemetery). In the 1850 census there was a Catherine Swinea living with Moses and Mary. She was about 30 years older than Mary, and I suspect she was Mary's mother, but the relation is not given. Can you help?
