My husband is Samuel Scottie Easley, son of Edwin Louie Easley, son of Samuel Lee Easley, son of William B. Easley. His brother has discharge papers from the Union Army for William B. Easley. The story is he was captured by the Union Army and joined ranks with the Union to get out of prison. His son Samuel was born in Illinois about1868.
