Carolyn, Thanks for the follow up. You got the right people pretty much but it just skirts all around what I am looking for. The Perry B. Hawkins you mention is the one that had the original land grant for the land in question, and the John T Hawkins (dec'd brother of Elizabeth Hawkins)is the one that had the land later, but I'm not sure if my S. Anne Hawkins Carroll was the daughter of or wife of John T Hawkins. I know that she was the aunt of Samantha Arebelle McLin Gant, but just don't know how the relation was. I know that a Bettie and Eliza Trigg (who were heirs of Perry B Hawkins) contested S.A Hawkins Carroll's ownership of the land in court in 1871 and lost. I wonder if Eliza could be Elizabeth that had later married?? Its a fun puzzle to work when you don't even know what the pieces look like till you happen to find one. I can't find any record yet of SA Carroll's burial although I find Isaiah Carroll (husband) is buried at Anderson Cemetery, so I wonder if she might be buried out there and not marked or the marker been destroyed. I'll be going back out there soon to re-survey it and have a reason to look a little harder now. Anyway, keep me in mind if you ever come up on anything.
