John W Scott and Mary Jane Haynes

John W Scott and Mary Jane Haynes of Waterloo had children Mary Elizabeth, Martha J, Nancy E, Sarah, Susanna, and Anna C. These were all born in Waterloo or Hardin County by 1861. Then John and Mary moved to Illinois and a child George W was born there in April 1864. Then they moved back to Hardin County and three more children were born. John and Mary are buried in Richardson Cemetary at Waterloo. Does anyone know what part of Illinois they moved to? Did John W enlist in the Union Army? What did the W stand for? Palmers, Lamberts, Thrashers, LLoyds and others moved from the area around Walnut Grove about 1863 to Macoupin County Illinois. Trying to find out if John W went there.
