Thanks, I found my William Easley's military records in the 2nd US Inf. at the Family History Library in Salt Lake, and just got his pension records from the national archives. He was indeed a "Galvanized Yankee" and did service in Kansas and Colorado during 1865. He contracted catarrh during his service; he lived till about 1896 with the disease getting worse and worse. The government cut off his pension in 1895 on the grounds that he had been a Confederate soldier, and he died shortly thereafter.
