It looks like Kate's maiden name may have been Kate Green Carney, but I can't prove that.

Her parents may have been R. S. Carney and Arminta Morris. R. S. Carney and A. Morris were married in Haywood County on 5 Mar 1860 (book 1 page 83).

I did find R. S. & A. Carney on the 1870 census in District 3, Fayette County. The children were Ellen, b. 1865; R. R., b. 1868; and R. J., b. 1870.

I could not find them on the 1880 census.
