This is what I have in my "Notes" section for Mary Ann Stanfield.

From a posting from Darron Williams:
James Henry Perry, my g grandfather, was the son of James Jackson Perry. J. J. Perry can only be found on the 1880 Crockett census, Dist 2. Other than his 2nd marriage record, to Elizabeth Moor(e), nothing else can be found on J. J. Perry. I cannot find him on any other census record.

According to the death certificate of Thomas Perry, brother of James Henry Perry, his mother was Mary Ann Stanfield, born Haywood County TN.

The death certificate of James Henry Perry lists mother as unknown.

I'm not sure if Thomas & Henry had the same mother or not. They were born about six years apart. The 1880 census shows their mother was born in Virginia.
...
Both of her children, state their mother was born in TN, so I am placing TN as her place of birth.
...
Mary Ann, was in Madison Co., in 1850, and there are 12 other STANFIELDS there. I am placing them here, as they appear on the census.

Now, follow my thoughts.

We see Mary Ann, living with a Mary Elizabeth (Wallace I believe) Todd, at the time of the 1850 census. As I above stated, I believe that Mary Elizabeth was a Wallace, because the gentleman who is living with them, was also from NC, and of an age, to have been a brother to her. I also believe that Mary's marriage to Aquila Todd, was her second marriage. Note that Mary Ann Stanfield, is the oldest of the children living with Aquila and Mary. She very well could have been a child of a marriage between Mary Elizabeth Wallace and an Unknown Stanfield, and that that same Stanfield died between 1830 and 1832, when Mary married Aquila Todd, and bore him at least two more children, OR they are her step sons. But I am really leaning towards Mary Ann, being the daughter of Mary Elizabeth.

Another thing to consider, is that when next we find Mary Ann, she is living in Haywood Co., as is Aquila and Mary and the rest of the TODDs.
...
From a tree on Ancestry.com I found Mary Elizabeth, and she was a WALLACE, but no parents mentioned for her. Also, it did not state when she married Aquila, so I still believe that she was a second wife for Aquila and he being a second marriage for her. Otherwise, WHY would Mary Ann have been living with them. After all, there were OTHER Stanfields in the county, for her to live with, if there was no blood line with Mary Elizabeth Wallace Todd. As you can see from the 1850 census above, there was a STANFIELD, just 8 households away.

Elizabeth Wallace
Birth: 8-19-1795
Bertie County, North Carolina, USA
Death: 9-11-1877
Crockett County, Tennessee, USA
Buried Alamo City Cemetery, Crockett Co., TN

Aquila Todd
Birth: 7-6-1797
Bertie County, North Carolina, USA
Death: 12-23-1876
Crockett County, Tennessee, USA
Buried Alamo City Cemetery, Crockett Co., TN

Burials in Alamo City Cemetery:
Todd Aquilla               July 6 1797 - Dec 23 1876
Todd Elizabeth               Aug 8 1793 - Sept 11 1877               w/o Aquilla Todd
Todd Nannie J. L.               Feb 13 1857 - Nov 26 1879               w/o Sol. Todd
Todd Solomon               Aug 8 1836 - Apr 11 1884
Todd William               Feb 10 1832 - Jan 12 1877

Solomon Todd md Elizabeth Steel on July 23, 1862 in Haywood Co.
Solomon Todd md Nancy J. Layman on January 4, 1878 in Crockett Co., TN (from the above cemetery listings, it appears that she must have died in childbirth, or because of it.)
Solomon Todd md Mattie Laman (probably a sister of Nancy J.) on February 3, 1883 in Crockett Co., TN

I believe that they had moved from their census place before the census was taken in 1860, and had moved to their new place, after the census had already been taken there.

Another reason I am believing they were in Haywood Co. by the 1860 census, was because marriage records for Haywood Co., before 1860 were destroyed in a fire (a few were salvaged), and there was no marriage record for Mary Ann in either Madison or Lauderdale Co. That leaves Haywood. As we see from the records of Solomon Todd, he was married in Haywood Co., in 1862, and Mary Ann was at least five years older than he was.

Hope this helps.
