I caught this in our local paper. I had GRIFFITH family from Jackson County, and am aware of their connections to the WITCHER family, circa 1840's. I do not have any additional information on Madeline's family at this time. Obituary - Daily Review Atlas, Monmouth (Warren Co.) Illinois - 20 July 2006, pages 2 & 3 MADELINE W. DYCUS Madeline W. Dycus, 82, of Monmouth, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at the Roseville Country Manor, Roseville. She was born June 23, 1924, in Jackson County, Tenn., the daughter of William and Thula (Sircy) Witcher. She was reared and educated in Trousdale County, Tenn. Madeline married Gerald Dycus in Monmouth on September 6, 1948. Madeline was an office worker for Illinois Bell in Chicago for 21 years. She enjoyed talking to people, shopping and flowers. She was a member of the Illinois Bell Pioneers. Surviving is her daughter, Sheila (Peter) Sikora of St. Charles; one son, Martin (Deborah) Dycus of Monmouth; six grandsons; one granddaughter; two great grandsons; and two great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters. Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, with Reverend James Epperson of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial of her ashes will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Notify Administrator about this message?
