Hello! I am looking for descendants of William A. and Ellen Cress Brown. William was born in Ashe County, NC in 1854, the son of B.S. and Susan Younce Brown. Ellen was the daughter of Elizabeth Cress, who was the daughter of David E. and Uree Wiliams Cress. Ellen was born in 1855. They married in Solitude, Ashe County, NC on 23 Dec 1875. William and Ellen lived in Johnson County, TN from at least 1880 till their deaths in 1931 and 1923, respectively. William was city recorder from June of 1921 until May of 1929. Their children were:
Emma, b. 1876, m. S.T. Cress 1896, d. 1901
Willard B., b. 1878, m. Annie __ 1911, d. 1925 in KY
Lula E., b. 1880, d. 1899
Jennie Lee, b. 1887, m. C.H. Thompson 1906, d. 1923
Robert B., b. 1889, m. Hattie Adams 1913, d. 1979
Mary C., b. 1891, m. Howard Dunn, d. 1968(?)
Nannie (Nancy) Faw., b. 1894, m. 1st Grover Scott, m. 2nd __ Nichols, d. 1978
Walter H., b. 1897, d. 1900
My great-grandfather was Robert Bruce Brown.
If anyone can help me locate descendants/relatives, I would be very grateful. My Browns seemed to have been a fairly close-mouthed family when it came to their business, and I would like to know more about them.
