There is a Woody DNA project that needs your help. We need more male Woodys to participate. The a project is discussed on the website http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/w/woody/
The information gathered is only good for genealogical purposes. The DNA collected for this project is not kind of DNA information used by law enforcement, or for medical or insurance purposes and your identity will not be shown with the results.
As you will see on the website, the DNA signatures for the various Woody families are proving distinctive, particularly so for the descendants of John Woody from Maryland/North Carolina. We need more participants for all the Woody lines but as a descendant of John Woody (MD/NC) by his son James, I am particularly interested in getting more of our family to join. His son John, the Revolutionary War Veteran, was an early settler in eastern Tennessee and many of the Woodys now living in your area are his descendants. Please consider participating in the project or encouraging a male Woody relative to do so. The above website is a good place to find out more about the project.
