I am the great great granddaughter of Samuel Alexander Jones who lived in Lincoln County from around 1808 until his death in 1877. He raised his family there and I found a great write up about him and his wife Rachel Brown in the Waller Family Tree. However, that article mentioned that he was born in NC and then moved to Georgia at some point to marry Rachel in 1804 or 1802 and then won land in the Georgia land lottery and then moved to Lincoln County TN. I can't seem to find anything on his life in NC or Georgia. I have tried the obvious archives but can't find a thing! I don't know what county he lived in in Georgia or NC and the searches are by county, so my general searches don't seem to work. The article also mentioned that the family came from Skilton Ireland then settled in NC but I can't find a Skilton Ireland! Is there anyone left in this county that could help me? I live in California so it has been difficult to say the least! Any help would be appreciated-thanks!
