Deborah,

I believe that the 1840 Census of the Western District of Madison County, TN for Henry Edwards is that of my great great grandfather. The census fits his family perfectly if I assume that he had a 2 year-old Mary Hargett as guardian, and I assume that a daughter, Martha was born 1820-1825 (I have never found conclusive info on Martha, later with a married name of Swanner). Henry appears just across the county line in Haywood County, TN in the 1850 Census, along with a married son Newit living next door. By 1850, 2 sons, Bright and James had already moved to Crab Orchard, Williamson, IL and another son Henry Jr. was married and living elsewhere in TN. I have extensive info on this family.

Regards,
Don Edwards
