After checking the Tennessee marriage data base, it appears that you MIGHT have the wrong name for Felix's wife. There was a marriage for a Felix Hall to a Malinda ROBINSON on Juy 30, 1836. After looking at the ages of the children on the 1850 census, the oldest was born about 1838, which would make the marriage of his parents in 1836 very comfortable. NOW, take a look at the people listed RIGHT UNDER (next door) to Felix and Malinda. 1850 Madison Co., TN - Civil Dist 8 - Septmeber 26, 1850 890/890 ROBINSON, William - 51 - farmer - $800 - TN Elizabeth - 51 - NC Malinda - 24 - TN Dicy Ann - 22 - TN Elizabeth - 19 - TN William C. - 18 - TN Franklin - 16 - TN John - 14 - TN (As I saw the name of Malinda on this one, it appeared as if the writer was uncertain as to what the name was, and after a moment of hesitation, wrote what he THOUGHT he remembered it to be. To visualize what I am talking about, take a pen in hand, and start to write a name, and in mid-thought, imagine it as being another name. You can't help, but to show a bit of hesitation in the writing. (I took a class in handwriting analysis.)) Now, as I see it, there are two possibilities. Either; 1) the enumerator misunderstood the name of the Malinda, living in the household of William & Elizabeth, and it might have been Malvina or another sound-alike name; or 2) William and Elizabeth are VERY CLOSE relatives to your the Malinda who is in Felix's house. I checked the 1840 census, and the said William and Elizabeth were indeed in Maury Co., at the time of the census. Notify Administrator about this message?
