Mrs. John W. Horton was hostess Wednesday to a meeting of the Smyrna Baptist W.M.U. theme: Patriotism." Mrs. Robert Gipson of Lewisburg, was present and gave several solo numbers. The meeting was opened by slinging "Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean." mrs. Gipson, and affter a brief business period she sang, "My Country 'Tis of Thee." Theme of rdevotional, "The Goodness of God to the nation." taken from Duetconomy, was lead by Mrs. Jim Hastings. The program was as follows, solo, "America, the Beautiful." Mrs. Robert Gipson; prayer, "Patriotism Consists Not in Warring a Flag, But in Strength That Our Country Shall Be Righteous as Well as Strong,: Mrs. John W. Horton; paper, "What America Owes to Our Christian Founders and Pioneers." Mrs. John Lane poem, "Faith of Our Fathers,".....rest unreadable.
