Quoting from 'Brief History of Marshall County, TN': "Most of the earliest settlers came here to live on land which had been granted to soldiers as compensation for fighting in the Revolutionary War. The fertile soil and pleasant climate attracted others. By 1810 there were many clearings and the pioneers began to call this land their home." Perhaps David Rodgers received bounty land for service in the War of 1812.
