The 1860 Census for Maury Co. shows the Singleton C SIKES family from Lincoln Co, TN, as living in the Burlin P O District. I have searched several "period" maps of the region, but I cannot find any mention of Burlin. I would appreciate any help locating the approximate area where this family lived. Also, in 1866, Singleton's son Ambrose Lee SIKES married Nancy Van POWELL in Maury Co. Nancy, b 1851, was the daughter of Ambrose POWELL, who died about 1852, and Mary Ellen CURTIS. She was being raised by her mother and step-father, Newton HAYES, at the time of her marriage. Any information on any of these families would be greatly appreciated.
