I should have added to the posting that Nancy Van POWELL was born in either 1850 or 1851 and Ambrose Lee SIKES was born in Lincoln CO, TN, in 1848. Therefore, they were quite young in 1866 when they married in Maury CO. Maybe it was because Nancy was being raised by a step-father, Newton HAYES, with a large family of his own to feed in tough times.
