I would like to communicate with the descendents of the following surnames, Agent,Agin,Edgin,Edgen,Egine,etc.
There have been many alternate spellings of this surname.
I am in search of information on my great-grandmother, Martha "Mattie" Agent or one of the above spellings, and her parents and siblings.
I noticed an Edgin family on the 1870 Maury Co. census, that has a Martha Edgin, born about 1865 or 1866 in TN. Father is John, b: abt 1833 TN, Mother Nancy, b: 1826 NC, children, Mary, b:1852 TN, James, b: 1857 TN, Sarah E P (Parthemia)? b: 1860 TN, Samuel, b: 1863 TN, & Martha A b: 1865/1866 TN. This family located to the 6th civil district in Hickman Co. TN by 1880, under the name of Agin. I do not know if this is her, since I do not have much info on her.
The info I do have is:
Marriage record from Tennessee State Marriages, Jefferson Berry to Mattie Egine, Aug 1884, Centerville,Hickman,TN, signed by Jefferson and the clerk signed S E Egine, S E Egine signed with an X. (possible misspelling).
1900 Whitfield, Hickman Co, TN, civil district 9 census,
Husband, Thomas(may be Thomas Jefferson or Jefferson Thomas), born Missouri 1850, Mattie, born Apr 1863 TN, Jossie-daughter, b: 5/1886, Archelus,10/1888, Walter 12/1890, James,11/1892, which I have come to find is James Corley Berry,born 1894, Thomas,7/1896, Wesley,5/1900. There is a daughter missing her name Rose, Rosie, Rosa b: abt 1891. Mattie and children born in TN. Wesley is my grandfather.
I have Wesleys delayed birth certificate and death certificate, which states Martha Agent as mother.
I was told Martha and Jefferson died abt 1907, 1908, when Wesley was young. In 1910, Rose, James, Thomas & Wesley were living with Wm A Russell and family in Hickman Co. TN.
Does any of this info above sound familiar to any of you Edgin/Agin/Agent/Egine/Edgen descendents, or anyone that might know of this family?
