Divorce

When a person got a divorce in McMinn County or just in TN in the 1870s/1880s, did they have to go through the court system like they do now and perhaps leave a paper trail? What did people do back then when they no longer wanted to be married to one person and wanted to be married to another person? Thanks Colleen
