Do you have his death date? It would be very hard for a volunteer researcher to find the article without a specific date.
His death certificate should give the date, and should be readily available. Try this site:

for researchers who might be able to help you.
The Memphis newspapers probably are available on microfilm at the Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville. The microfilm often can be borrowed by Tennessee libraries for patron use in the libraries. Not sure if the microfilm can be sent out of state.
