Iris, I am not the person who asked you for this info. but I would really appreciate it if you could check on a marriage for me.
I am trying to locate a Thompson who married a Martha M. in about 1848 to 1854. I do not know for sure but believe his name was Richard. I have no idea what her maiden name was and this has been my brick wall for over 10 years.
I bound Richard and martha m. Thompson with 3 girls on the 1860 census for Bradley Co., Tennessee. One of those little girls was my greatgrandmother but not anyone of my family knows much about her parents.
If I could find Martha's maiden name and be sure that Richard was a first name I might get someplace.
I have not been able to find Richard prior to 1860 nor after 1860.
Therefore, I do not believe that Richard was his first name. I find Martha and the 3 girls in 1870 census for Rhea County without a husband.
Their first child Maree (Marce) Caroline was born in 1855 so I am guessing they were married about 1848 to 1854.
Richard is shown as being 30 years old and Martha as 38 but in 1870 , Martha is shown as age 40 so I think she was born in 1830 like Richard.
Thank you for any help you can give.
Wanda
