One of my great-grandmothers was a Grimes - Sarah Frances "Fannie" Grimes from Wayne Co TN, she was a young child on the 1850 cenus, - she first married James P. Graham and, secondly, a Mr. Richardson and lived in Gibson Co TN but died in Shelby Co TN. I don't have my hard copy right here but I believe her father was a John Grrines married to an Arnett.

There are / were lots of Grimes in Wayne County and some of them were in Giles Co TN prior to that. Hope this would help in your search.
