Thanks Joe, Yes there many records out there printed with all kinds of spellings and errors, even tombstones can have errors; the family geneologist is the best source since they normally know the relationships and have searched through more data. Oh by the way an excellant sourse is The Alabama Civil War Data Base, many pensions, census and war records (and some errors). Found a widow the other day "F.E" fortunately I had already found her full name "Tabitha Elizabeth". I would estimate from the Pension files "Confederate" that probably 15-20% of the soldiers are not listed on known muster rolls. I see your family was like mine - spilt. sure would have liked to be at the dining room table to listen to those old war stories.Morgan
