In the 1860 Monroe Co., TN Census records, District 7 there is:
John Thomason 61 Born abt. 1799 in North Carolina
Louisa Thomason 52 Born abt. 1808 in North Carolina
Marry E. Thomason 23 Born abt. 1837
Martha E. Thomason 21 Born abt. 1839
George W. Thomason 12 Born abt. 1848
Louisa C. Thomason 16 Born abt. 1844
John W. Thomason 13 Born abt. 1847
B. A. Thomason 10 Born abt. 1850
I didn't look in the other census years for them but this has your ggg grandfather and his siblings and parents. He was evidently named after his father.
