Can anyone provide info about Amanda Overton (b. 1864) who married Samuel Harvey Greenway (also b. 1864) both in Arkansas.
Amanda's parents are suppose to have been Arthur (possibly also know as "Waddy") Overton (b. 1815 in TN) and Ellen Bangs (b. 1835). One or the other or both were supposed to have been full blood Cherokee. Ellen's father was supposedly Oran Bangs (b. 1805 in Maine). Arthur's father was supposedly Arthur Overton and his mother was Nancy Bragg.
I'm trying to determine the truth of an assertion that Amanda Overton was full blood Cherokee and is this tracable to the Dawes Roll? Since Ellen's father was from Maine, it's difficult to believe he was Cherokee. Arthur's father (also named Arthur) seem a more likely Cherokee but I'm not having much success finding out more. Any help is appreciated.
