Illegible 1860 Mortality Schedule

About 10 years ago, at the TN State Archives, I looked for an ancestor in the microfilmed 1860 Mortality Schedule for Rutherford County. I made a note that the first page appeared blank, could not make out anything on the next two pages and could only read a word here and there after that. Therefore, I had no copy of the schedule - only the info provided in the Sistler book.

I have a subscription to Ancestry and only yesterday thought to look at the Mortality Schedules there. To my surprise, it was crystal clear. It told me two things that the Sistler book didn't - the township he died in and the "number of days ill". Small bits of info but interesting to me - and now I have a copy of the schedule.

Thought this might be of interest to someone else who had the same problem reading the microfilmed schedules. Ancestry offers a two-week trial subscription for those that feel a regular subscription is a bit pricy. Might be worth a look.

Carol
