Willma Louise 'Billie' McCarroll, 98, of Memphis, homemaker, died Saturday at Allen Morgan Health Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. George Episcopal Church, where she attended, with burial in Memorial Park. Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge. She was an Episcopalian, a singer in the Muni Opera in St. Louis and St. Mary's Cathedral Choir and a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. Mrs. McCarroll, the widow of John R. McCarroll, leaves two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Hornidge of Waldoboro, Maine, and Suzanne Warner of Louisville, Ky.; a son, John R. McCarroll Jr. of Memphis, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Girl Scouts of America Memphis Council, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or St. George Episcopal School Library. McCarroll of 212 Buena Vista, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zehender-Robinson Funeral Home in Quincy, Ill. Burial will be in Quincy. Mr. Schwindeler, who was 84, died at 5:25 a.m. yesterday at Baptist Hospital after a long illness. He had been living at the Parkview at 1914 Poplar with his wife, Mrs. Bertha Schwindeler. A St. Louis ice cream manufacturer, Mr. Schwindeler retired and in 1930 moved to Hollywood, Calif., where he was an active Shriner. In 1965 he moved to Atlanta to be with the McCarrolls, former Memphians, who returned here last month. Mr. Schwindeler also leaves three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
