I am looking for some info on a pair of brothers John and James Stevens. Both born around 1795. From what i have gathered so far they were both born in Caroline County Virginia and moved to Tennessee later on. John shows up on the census in smith co TN as early as 1830. Was married to Almenia Coleman from KY. John and Almenia had 6 children
1 Mildred Stevens -Who married a David Bradfor
2 Francis - married William G. Bransford
3 Emma (aka Mary or Louise) -Never married
4 Penelope- married John Ward
5 George Madison- married Lucy Belle Carpenter (my great grandparents)and
6 Goodloe Stevens- who married a Mary Elizabeth Cheek(known as Bettie, even has it on her tombstone.)
I think John and James Stevens were sons of James Stevens and Mary Bird Goodloe. If anyone can help me verify this I would appreciate it. James Stephens/Stevens shows up once on the 1850 census with his wife Sarah (Yates) and four sons
