I have just received confirmation (via a death certificate) that Solomon Smith and Ellen/Helen/Eleanor Lilly are the gg-grandparents I've been searching for! Now for Solomon's grandparents:
Does anyone know who the parents of Joseph Smith and of his wife Sinah/Sinai are?
Joseph b 1797/8 VA d 1860-70 TN-Sullivan Co
Sinah b 1804/5 VA d 1870-80 TN-Sullivan Co
Their son Solomon* b 1832 TN-Sullivan Co, d 1900-10 TN-Sullivan Co.
married to Ellen/Elan/Helen/Eleanor Lilly b 1834/5 VA.
Their son Henry W. Smith b 22 Aug 1854 TN-Sullivan Co, d 19 Feb 1926 TN-Washington Co.
married Nancy J. Clayton b Apr 1850 TN-Lawrence Co.
Their son William Clayton Smith b Dec 1875 TN-Sullivan Co.
married Maggie Bell Millard b Jan 1884 TN-Sullivan Co.
Summary of line: Joseph Smith > Solomon > Henry W. > William Clayton Smith > Billie Millard Smith (b 1926).
* Note: There is another Solomon Smith abt the same time in TN-Sullivan Co who was married to Eliz. Arrants; that is a different Solomon.
