Sally, Thanks for your note. I didn't really have a record of any of your Tobias line. My research has your Christian Tobias. I have his death noted as 1 Mar 1869 Perry, Montgomery, Ohio. I didn't have his birth year, so I appreciate your information. As to his wife, I had a "Catharine" b. abt 1802 PA in my records. I could either have this incorrectly noted, or the Christian in my notes isn't really your Christian. However, if he is, I have that Christian's parents were: William Michael Tobias (b. 31 Dec 1773 PA d. 18 Dec 1847 Perry, Montgomery, Ohio) and Maria Magdalena Bucher (b. 16 Apr 1783 PA d. 12 Jul 1846 Perry, Montgomery, Ohio). I have William and Maria's marriage date as 1800. William is noted as the son of George Tobias on page 1554 of Morton L. Montgomery's Historical and Biographical Annals of Berks County Pennsylvania, 1909. George Tobias was born 1738 Zweibrucken, Rhine-Pfalz, Germany. His will was made 14Nov1789 and probated 16 Mar 1790 (Book A, pg 185). It is believed that George's wife was named Catharina, but I don't have definitive evidence of that. Finally, George is commonly noted as the son of Hans Jost Tobe (b. 1718 Zweibrucken, Rhine-Pfalz, Germany d. 1775 Bern, Berks, PA) and Elizabeth (unknown). So where do I fit in? I'm still not sure of the answer. I believe my Tobias clan came from George's brother, Ludwig Tobias's (b. 24 Jun 1739 d. 27 Sept 1810) descendents. Ludwig had a son named Ludwig Tobias (b. 12 July 1763 d. 26 Sept 1826 Bern Twp.) who married Elizabeth Strunck (b. abt 1765 Penn. d. aft 1826). Ludwig and Elizabeth are noted in Montgomery's book as having 6 sons and 7 daughters. However, only two of the sons (Jonathan and Jacob) are noted specifically by name. I believe that my ancestor, John Tobias (b. abt 1792 Berks, PA) was one of the unnamed sons. Regards, Luke Wellington Notify Administrator about this message?
