My mother's cousin's maiden name is Tocher and she asked me to try to find something out about her father's roots.

Her father, Ferdinand Tocher settled in Saskatchewan, Canada after living in Ontario. We are not sure if he is actually a Tocher or took on his sister's married name. From what I have, a William Tocher b 1860 Aberdeen Scotland married a Pamelia Mervyn in Ontario and settled near Collingwood. They had several children - Mayme, Mervyn, Fred, Audrey Scott, Hazel, Alma and Gordon. This information has not been verified. in any way.

I have also learned:

1) there was a Johan Tocher, age 1 who came to New York via RMS Abyssinia from Liverpool/Queenstown. He was apparently German.

2) A Mary Jane Tocher b 1882 in Scotland m Archibald McArthur 29 Aug 1903 in San Francisco

I'd appreciate any help.
