Edward Todden, 78, a retired farmer, died at Livingston County Nursing Home in Pontiac onThursday, March 3, at 9:55 p.m. following a lingering illness.
Born in Fairbury on March 30, 1881, he was a son of William and Sarah Redd Todden. He resided in Fairbury for approximately 10 years prior to moving to Chatsworth, where he made his home the rest of his life.
On Dec. 3, 1902, he married Miss Mary C. Gerdes, who preceded him in death on May 15, 1954. Also preceding him in death were two brothers.
Survivors are a son, Edward W., at home; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine M. Bertrand and Mrs. Hilda Gertrude Hine, both of Kankakee; four brothers, Henry G., of Wenona; William and Samuel, both of Peoria; George of Chatsworth; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday afternoon at the Hanson-Mowry Funeral home and at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church, of which Mr. Todden was a member. The Rev. Elmer F. Klingensmith officiated at the services and at the burial in Chatsworth Cemetery.
Music at the funeral home was provided by Mr. H.M. Trinkle, organist, and at the church by Miss Clarice Gerbracht, organist, and Mrs. Donald Haberkorn, vocalist.
Casket bearers were Walter Greider, Phillip Schultz, James Mauritzen, Wallace Wallrich, Roy Wahls and John Lawless.
